Gert-Jan Windhorst, manager HSE&Q Europe for Noble Drilling, speaks at an “Industry Day” held on 27 November in the Netherlands.

An “Industry Day” held in Noorwijk, the Netherlands, on 27 November by the Netherlands Oil and Gas Exploration Production Association (NOGEPA), IADC, the Association of Dutch Suppliers (IRO) and the Dutch Society for Efficient Maintenance (NVDO) focused on improving industry HSEQ and efficiency. Breakout groups discussed issues of production and maintenance, engineering and projects, logistics and drilling and wells with regards to harmonization, competence, behavior and HSE culture. The results from these sessions determined which projects would commence in the first half of 2010.

In addition to participating in Industry Day, NOGEPA continues to enhance safety measures. In October 2009, NOGEPA and the IRO Safety Training Workgroup (ISTG) met in Rotterdam to discuss a revision of the NOGEPA Training Handbook. E-learning was discussed, and the State Supervision of Mines presented results of a fire/explosion inspection project carried out in 2008 and 2009.
