Atwood Oceanics subsidiary Atwood Oceanics Pacific took delivery of its newly constructed LeTourneau SUPER 116E jackup, Atwood Aurora, from Keppel AmFELS in Brownsville, Texas in mid-December. The rig will undergo additional final commissioning prior to being loaded on a vessel for transport to offshore Egypt to commence a two-year contract with RWE.

The unit was built to the LeTourneau Super 116E design, with leg lengths of 477 ft that can be upgraded to 511 ft. It is capable of drilling wells up to 30,000 ft deep in water depths of 350 ft.
