On May 1st and 2nd, 50 softball teams from companies throughout the oil and gas industry participated in the 2010 Derricks & Diamonds Charity Softball Tournament at Big League Dreams Sports Park in League City, Texas. National Oilwell Varco and Schlumberger host the event and solicit donations from any oil and gas related companies with contributions divided between Texas Children’s Hospital’s Cancer Center and Charity Care Program.

This year marked record highs in money raised and participating companies. Over $200,000 will be donated to the tournament’s beneficiaries through the donations of 67 companies, 44 of which were first-time participants.

The charitable event was able to significantly increase interest and donations by contacting oil companies and oil service companies, Ms Popova-Sicilian, eMarketing Coordinator, Distribution Services for NOV, and NOV’s 2010 Tournament Director said. “IADC, which was a Triple Play sponsor, helped immensely by providing a lot of contacts for us.”

A Gala will be held June 19 at the Magnolia Hotel in Houston with representatives from Grand Slam level companies and above in attendance.  The money raised during the evening will benefit Snowdrop Foundation.

Snowdrop Foundation, founded by 93Q Morning Show DJ and Derricks & Diamonds Advisory Board Member Kevin Kline, raises money for pediatric cancer research and provides scholarships for current and former pediatric cancer patients.
