Managed pressure drilling (MPD) has been used to mitigate a multitude of drilling hazards, with hundreds of applications from various types of rigs under its belt. In this exclusive video from the 2014 IADC/SPE Drilling Conference in Fort Worth, Texas last week, Don Hannegan, Weatherford strategic technology development manager of MPD, discusses how the technology has moved from a niche tool into the drilling mainstream over the past decade and provides his insights into the next evolution of MPD. An industry-recognized leading MPD expert, Mr Hannegan is also contributing to revisions of the IADC Deepwater Well Control Guidelines and IADC Drilling Manual.
