Santos Basin exercise focused on well capping, containment response

In June 2015, Petrobras conducted a well capping and containment response exercise in the Santos Basin. The exercise was conducted on an ultra-deepwater and vertical drilling well using a dynamically positioned drillship, said Rubens Ribeiro de Paula Jr, who works in Petrobras’ Well Control Department – Blowout Response Coordination. In this video from the 2016 IADC International Deepwater Drilling Conference on 15 March in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Mr de Paula talks about the scenario for the exercise and the plans that had to be integrated – such as well killing, logistics and SimOps – to ensure success.
