IADC Advanced Rig Technology Committee to meet during OTC

The meeting will cover several key areas:

  • a. Reliability: Collection of statistics on top-drive reliability
  • b. Standardization of control motions for key systems, including:
    • i. Primary safety systems
    • ii. Control chairs
  • c. Harmonizing software interfaces
  • d. Decision matrix & guidelines:
    • i. Matrix to assess whether an automated system is appropriate in a given situation
    • ii. Guidance to drilling contractors on operating advanced rig equipment;
    • iii. Training guidance
    • iv. HSE guidance
  • e. Rig technology in the future
