Landmark previews new Drillworks software suite

As companies explore and produce oil and gas in more remote and challenging locations, wellbore instability and pore pressure-related problems are impacting their bottom line more than ever. From kicks to wellbore collapses and blowouts, these issues cost the industry more than $8 billion dollars a year. However, pore pressure and wellbore instability problems have traditionally been difficult to address because they require a unique combination of geoscience and drilling data and expertise, disciplines that typically work independently.

The integrated Drillworks and Pressworks applications aims to bridge the gap between geoscience and drilling. The Pressworks geopressure and geomechanics database is now integrated with the company’s OpenWorks geosciences and Engineer’s Data Model engineering project databases, giving users the ability to centrally store pore pressure and geomechanics data. The new Drillworks Expert software suite builds on that functionality by enabling the use of available well, seismic and geologic data to build a geopressure model of the target area. This allows users to predict pore pressures for multiple wells at once. As a result, operators will be able to perform pore pressure and wellbore stability analysis on more wells in less time, while reducing NPT and improving safety performance.
