TxDOT to undertake Energy Sector Corridor Improvement program

Many of the Texas roadways that run through energy-rich areas of the state were not built and designed to handle the constant traffic from heavy trucks that is associated with oil and gas exploration and production. Through the Energy Sector Corridor Improvement program, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will undertake improvements to roads that experience high levels of energy-related traffic, Randy Hopmann, Director of District Operations for TxDOT, said at the IADC Shale Energy Workshop in Midland, Texas, on 13 September. US rig count drops by four

US drillers idled four rigs – three onshore, one in inland waters – this week, dropping the active rig count from 940 to 936, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count. There are now 913 rigs drilling on land and 22 offshore.

After weeks of decline, US rig count shows modest growth

According to the Baker Hughes rig count, the US active rig count rose by five this week, ending a string of weekly declines. Both onshore and offshore segments rose by three rigs this week, but the growth was offset slightly by drillers idling one rig in inland waters. There are now 940 rigs actively drilling for oil and gas in the US.

US oil-rig count down by one

The number of active rigs drilling for oil in the US dropped by five this week to 744, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count. This makes the third week in a row the US oil-rig count has fallen. There are now 935 total active rigs in the US, with 913 drilling on land and 19 offshore. Last week, that number stood at 936.

Atwood Oceanics announces contract extension for Atwood Orca jackup rig
