North American rotary rig count up by 103 since last month

The North American rotary rig count has jumped by 103 units since last month, according to the IADC rig count, as reported by Baker Hughes. This includes 659 rigs in the US, which is up from 637 last month, as well as 315 rigs in Canada, which is up from 234 last month.

Compared with a year ago, the US rig count was 650 while the Canadian rig count was 227.

In other regions, the biggest jump was made in the Asia Pacific, where the rig count went up by four to 192, compared with last month. In Latin America, the rig count went up by three to 184. In Europe, the rig count increased by two to 99. In the Middle East and Africa, rig counts fell slightly compared with last month. The Middle East is now at 376, and Africa is at 78.
