Collaborative co-development yields innovative, disruptive technologies

While the oil and gas industry can be cautious about change, the industry’s appetite for disruptive innovation has grown over the past two years. In a presentation at the 2017 OTC, Dr Patrick Sullivan, Founder and CEO of Oceanit, explained the concept of corporate co-development, which is his company’s approach to collaboration. In this video from the conference on 3 May, he explains how this sort of partnership between technology companies and oil and gas companies can foster the development and timely deployment of disruptive technologies. He also discusses Oceanit’s recent corporate co-development project with Shell, which resulted in a steel cement interface nanobond (SCIN) technology that has been successfully deployed onshore Pennsylvania and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico.

NOV expands Tektonic drill bit platform for harsh applications

Since launching the Tektonic drill bit platform in 2015, National Oilwell Varco (NOV) has been expanding the platform to include bits for a variety of drilling environments and formations. BSEE turns focus to implementing Well Control Rule
