NOV hires Jose Bayardo as Senior VP, CFO

National Oilwell Varco (NOV)announced that Jose A. Bayardo has been named Senior VP and CFO of NOV. Mr Bayardo succeeds Scott K. Duff, Interim CFO. Prior to joining NOV, Mr Bayardo has worked at Continental Resources, Complete Production Services and JP Morgan in various roles. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, a Master of Engineering Management from the McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Loadmaster appoints Myklebust President, CEO

Ogden “Jeff” Myklebust II was recently named Pre-sident and CEO of Loadmaster Derrick & Equipment.

Mr Myklebust earned his BA from Sam Houston State University and has 31 years of industrial manufacturing, distribution and field services experience within the oil and gas, petrochemical and refining business. Mr Myklebust was formerly the Senior VP for Leader Gasket Technologies. Prior to that, he was President of International Gasket and Supply.

Vulcan names Whitney VP of Business Development

Vulcan Systems, a division of Worldwide Recycling Equipment Sales and a supplier of drying, calcining and thermal desorption equipment, announced that Preston Whitney has been appointed as the company’s new VP of Business Development. Mr Whitney will support growth and expansion into core and new markets. He brings more than 15 years of experience from the thermal processing industry.

Keppel acquires Cameron’s LeTourneau jackup designs, rig kit, aftermarket services

Keppel Offshore & Marine has, through its subsidiary Keppel Offshore & Marine USA, entered into a stock and asset purchase agreement with Cameron International to acquire Cameron’s offshore rigs business for $100 million. This encompasses the LeTourneau jackup rig designs, rig kit business and aftermarket services.

The designs Keppel is acquiring include the LeTourneau Super 116E, Workhorse, Super Gorilla XL and Jaguar.

With the acquisition, Keppel will be able to offer customers the LeTourneau rig designs through the sale of rig kits to shipyards, or deliver ready-to-drill rig solutions from Keppel yards worldwide. The rig kits include jackup leg components, elevating units/jacking system and cantilever/skidding system. Support equipment such as cranes and anchor winches are also options in the rig kits.

Vallourec supplies OCTG, line pipe to Hess, wins contract with BOMCO

Vallourec has delivered 14,000 tons of premium tubes to Hess for the Stampede project in the US Gulf of Mexico (GOM). The deepwater subsea development is located in the Green Canyon Block area, approximately 115 miles south of Fourchon, La. Over the life of project, pipes will be threaded at VAM USA in Houston for a total of more than 12,000 premium connections.

Vallourec’s contract also covers 9,000 tons of seamless steel line pipe for flowlines and steel catenary risers (SCR). The pipe will be installed in water depths of approximately 3,500 ft.

The company aims to reduce cost through SCR pipes with tight pipe end tolerances and optimal welding characteristics.

In separate news, Vallourec recently signed a contract for the delivery of 12 drillstrings in sour service grade (VM105 DP SSE) equipped with VAM Express connections with Baoji Oilfield Machinery (BOMCO). The drillstrings, which will be manufactured at Vallourec’s plants in France and in the Middle East, will be delivered to Abu Dhabi from mid-2016 to the beginning of 2017.

Based in Baoji City, BOMCO is China’s largest state-owned oilfield equipment manufacturer and the largest manufacturer of land rigs and mud pumps in the world.

Between 2009 and 2011, Vallourec’s Drilling Products division successfully produced 11 complete drillstrings for BOMCO. In February 2014, Vallourec successfully secured an additional 16 drillstrings with BOMCO.

DSL Mena opens new facility in Hamriyah, UAE

DSL Mena has expanded its operational capability with a new facility in Hamriyah, UAE. The facility’s quayside access provides direct contact to the Arabian Gulf. This facility will support DSL’s growth in the Middle East and will enable expansion of products and services. The facility is equipped with 3,700 sq m of fabrication workshop and 4,000 sq m of fabrication/rig-up yard space.

Armand joins Newpark as VP, US Offshore Operations

Newpark Drilling Fluids has announced the appointment of Tim Armand as VP of US Offshore Operations. Mr Armand began his career in the energy industry with Tetra nearly 30 years ago. In his most recent role as Global Account Manager at M-I SWACO, he managed more than 50 team members specializing in advanced technical solutions for the deepwater sector.

Laura Owen named CEO of Check-6 International

Check-6 International has named Laura Owen as the organization’s CEO. Ms Owen joined the board of directors for Check-6 in December 2014. Prior to that, she was the founder and CEO of PontSalus, an organization focused on reducing health care costs and increasing access to quality healthcare, for health systems worldwide.

Ms Owen was also co-founder and COO of ICOP Digital, a company that engineers and markets mobile video products for first responders worldwide. Before that, she served as Kansas Secretary of Commerce.

SmartSignal will deliver premium anomaly detection with early warning capabilities that are distributed over a cloud network.

Preferred Sands releases new 22k psi polymeric proppant

Preferred Sands recently added Heat to its line of polymeric proppant technologies. 30/50 Heat, which scored 22,000 psi in standard ISO crush resistance testing, replaces the need for costly ceramics by providing a superior combination of strength and embedment resistance specifically in wells above 7,000-psi closure stress.

Wood Group to support MWCC well containment training

Wood Group was recently awarded a contract with Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) to provide an operator training simulator to support training for containment in the event of a deepwater well control incident in the Gulf of Mexico.

Under the contract, the simulator will be developed by Wood Group Kenny and will be located at the MWCC shore base near Corpus Christi, Texas. It will be used to train operators who will be involved in the deployment of MWCC’s well containment equipment if capture operations are required for an incident response.

IDE leaves rig construction to focus on power, controls

Integrated Drilling Equipment (IDE) recently announced it has exited the rig construction business to focus on the power and control solutions business. The company will once again operate under the name Integrated Electrical Control Systems (IEC Systems). “The segment of our business that has proven its resiliency, even in this downturn, has been our power and controls business,” explained Jim Terry, CEO of IDE Holdings Corp.

IEC Systems’ revised growth strategy builds upon its core competencies of providing safe and robust automated control systems, variable frequency drives and hydraulic power/control solutions. The company asserts such upgrades typically command increased dayrates of up to 45%.

WCS launches intro-level WellSharp course

Well Control School (WCS) has launched its new introductory level System 21 e-learning course for drilling operations. The course is available for IADC WellSharp and The Well Control School certifications.

It includes workshops, simulation exercises, chapter and lesson quizzes to provide basic well control training. It is designed for drilling and well servicing personnel, consultants, asset managers, engineers and wellsite personnel.

Participants who successfully complete and pass the course will receive The Well Control School and IADC WellSharp Introductory Level certifications, along with 1.8 continuing education units.

Carhartt launches new high-visibility safety apparel

Carhartt recently released new reflective flame-resistant safety apparel to meet regulatory requirements for workers within the US and Canada. The gear has 360˚ reflective striping visibility. Six flame-resistant styles meet the US performance requirements of NFPA 70E and are UL classified to NFPA 2112, and several meet Canada’s CSA Z96 and CGSB155.20 standards, as well.

Peak extends SIMPLUS retrievable bridge plug range

Peak Well Systems has announced that it has extended its range of ISO 14310:2008 V3 validation grade Sealing Integrity Management (SIM)–Plus plugs with the addition of a new 7-in. retrievable bridge plug to cover 23# – 26# tube casing. Testing of the new product was completed at Peak’s testing facilities in Perth, Australia, and, was independently witnessed by third-party certifying authority Det Norske Veritas. The bridge plug is an expandable barrier that creates downhole seals.
