IADC urges international authorities to adopt IMO pandemic recommendations IADC recently partnered with several trade organizations on a document urging national authorities to recognize a Circular Letter from the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The document calls for personnel in the offshore energy sector to be designated as “key personnel” during the COVID-19 pandemic. Total sets ambitions for net-zero emissions by 2050 In May, Total announced a commitment to get to net-zero emissions by 2050 for its global business, across its production and in the energy products used by customers. Three major steps were announced as part of the pathway to achieve this ambition: Net zero across Total’s worldwide operations by 2050 or sooner; Net zero across all of its production and energy products used by its customers in Europe by 2050 or sooner; and 60% or more reduction in the average carbon intensity of energy products used worldwide by Total customers by 2050, with intermediate steps of 15% by 2030 and 35% by 2040. Operators to jointly develop multiple licenses in Krafla, Fulla, North of Alvheim Equinor and Aker BP have entered an agreement on commercial terms for a coordinated development of the Krafla, Fulla and North of Alvheim licenses on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The area consists of many licenses and complex reservoirs that contain several oil and gas discoveries, with total recoverable resources estimated at more than 500 million BOE. The contemplated development concept for the area consists of a processing platform operated by Aker BP and an unmanned processing platform operated by Equinor, with possibilities for several satellite platforms and tiebacks to cover the various discoveries.
