For StatoilHydro, discovery made in Algeria but disappointment in Norwegian Sea

The area is located in the western part of the Sahara in Algeria, northwest of the In Salah gas field, where StatoilHydro has a 31.85% interest.

StatoilHydro has a 75%interest in Hassi Mouina and Sonatrach has 25%.

Separately, StatoilHydro has completed the drilling of a well in the Hauk prospect in the Norwegian Sea. The well was dry.

The purpose of the well was to explore the potential for hydrocarbons in Mid and Lower Jurassic sandstones in the Hauk prospect. The prospect is located 15 km northeast of the Norne field.

Exploration well 6608/11-6 was drilled to a total depth of 1,828 m below sea level and completed in Lower Jurassic rocks. The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned.

The drilling was performed by the Ocean Vanguard drilling unit in 379 m of water. The Ocean Vanguard will now sail to the North Sea, where it will drill exploration well 34/7-33 for StatoilHydro.
