IADC Accreditation receives 18th straight year of ISO 9001:2015 certification

Following its annual audit, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has granted IADC’s Accreditation Department with ISO 9001:2015 certification for the 18th consecutive year.

Additionally, IADC Accreditation has now recorded nine straight years with zero audit findings.

ISO 9001 is the international standard specifying requirements for quality management systems (QMS). Organizations use the standard to demonstrate the ability to consistently provide services that meet customer regulatory requirements. Specific sections of the standard contain information on topics such as the requirements for a QMS, including documented information, planning and determining process interactions; responsibilities of management; the management of resources, including human resources and an organization’s work environment; product realization, including the steps from design to delivery; and the measurement, analysis and improvement of the QMS through activities like internal audits and corrective and preventive action.

ISO 9001:2015 is the most recent version of the ISO 9001 standard. The 2015 update introduced new terminology, restructured information and improved applicability for services. Certified organizations must go through a two-day audit every year to check that all procedures, processes and records conform with the 83 ISO requirements. The audit looked at IADC from the top down, with reviews of top management, quality assurance, organizational resources and product development.

Q4 2023 ISP summary shows improvements in safety

The Q4 2023 report of IADC’s Incident Statistics Program (ISP) showed decreases in total recordable incidents, lost-time incidents (LTIs) and fatalities compared with Q4 2022 numbers. ISP reports numbers year-to-date, so Q4 numbers represent the totals for their respective years.

The 2023 report showed 960 total recordable incidents, down from 1,103 a year ago. Nearly half of the 2023 incidents – 442 – came from the US. Africa recorded the second-highest number of recordable incidents, with 188.

LTIs also trended downward, from 311 in 2022 to 264 in 2023. The US, Africa and the Middle East were the top three regions in this category, with 116, 52 and 34 LTIs, respectively.

Total fatalities went down from 15 in 2022 to 10 in 2023.
