Shell’s Jan Brakel to lead 2015 SPE/IADC Drilling Conference

Jan Brakel, Manager of Wells Research & Development at Shell Projects & Technology, will chair the 2015 SPE/IADC Drilling Conference to take place 17-19 March in London. The 2014 Drilling Conference chair Kevin Neveu, President and CEO of Precision Drilling, made the announcement at the opening session of this year’s conference in Fort Worth, Texas. “It is an honor to serve as the chairman for one of the premier events in the drilling industry,” Mr Brakel said. “I am excited about the level of commitment and experience in the organizing committees for the 2015 conference, and I look forward to deliver a program that will address the critical technical challenges in our industry, as well as solutions to overcome these.”

Mr Brakel has more than 27 years of experience working with Shell, onshore and offshore around the world. In 1986, he began his first assignment as a drilling research engineer at the Shell Exploration & Production Laboratories in the Netherlands. Since then he has worked in operational assignments in Norway, Tanzania, the UK and Oman.
