Risk model, fiber optic sensing technology facilitate BOP predictive maintenance

Lloyd’s Register Energy recently held an open house at the company’s newest training center in Houston to showcase new sensing and modeling technology currently deployed in the Gulf of Mexico. The technologies on display included the BOP Risk Model and a new fiber optic sensing technology, both of which provide condition monitoring and help drilling contractors anticipate when BOP maintenance will be needed.
